Have you ever heard two simple words at exactly the moment you needed them most?

On September 11, 2001, NYPD Officer Moira Smith helped guide frightened people down the stairs and out of the South Tower. Amid the smoke, confusion, and fear, she is remembered for urging them forward: “Keep Going.”

Moira helped lead hundreds of people to safety—and then went back inside to help more. She was killed when the South Tower collapsed.

Today, “Keep Going” is more than encouragement. It is a reminder of one woman’s extraordinary courage—and of the strength we sometimes find by simply taking the next step.

As you go through your week, remember Moira’s words. Whatever staircase you may be climbing—and however difficult the next step may seem—take it. Keep Going! And if you can, help someone else keep going too.
