Be the Light and Shine; From the Quote of the Week Files; January 25, 2016

BE THE LIGHT AND SHINE

Inline image 1

“Let today be the day you embrace your beautiful spirit and shine light for those living in the dark. Light their path so the road traveled will be seen more clearly. You never know how much a simple act of kindness is appreciated if you never try. Be that candle for someone today and shine bright.”

The Power of your Thoughts; From the Quote of the Week Files; January 18, 2016

The Power of your Thoughts

Inline image 2

'
If we understood the power of our thoughts,
we would guard them more closely.
If we understood the awesome power of our words,
we would prefer silence to almost anything negative.
In our thoughts and words we create
our own weaknesses and our own strengths.
Our limitations and joys begin in our hearts.
We can always replace negative with positive.

Yes you Can; From the Quote of the Week Files, January 11, 2016

Inline image 1
ASSUME YOU CAN:

Expand your idea of what is possible. Dream and imagine and explore the fertile territory beyond your current assumptions.

Whatever your situation in life may be, you are not confined to it. With imagination, focus, commitment and effort, you can move yourself to an even better, more fulfilling reality.

Beyond the existing horizon of your experience are countless possibilities you have not yet considered. Dare to go where you have not gone before, to see life in new and empowering ways.

There is a very real path to the fulfillment of your deepest, most positive and profound desires. Instead of convincing yourself and others that you can’t get there, open yourself to more possibilities.
If you assume you cannot get there, that very assumption will keep you chained to where you are. Yet when you assume you can, you will.

Beyond your past experience, beyond your current assumptions, are powerful new possibilities. Imagine those possibilities, find positive, sustained energy in them, and bring them gloriously to life.

Ralph Marston

One Word; One Year Exercise

Happy New Year Everybody! Now that 2015 is over it is time to begin the new year with a word(s) (not a resolution) that will serve as a compass on who you want to be or how you want to live.
For 2015 my word was OPA! It served me well and I will miss it. In the past my words have been: Expand, Gratitude, Possibilities, Openness, Memento Mori, Grace and 525,600 (which represents the number of minutes we have in a year).
My guiding light word for the year is Magic and it is my intention to make it a visible part of my everyday life!!!  So let’s make some magic in 2016!

What about you? What will be your word(s) that will guide you through 2016? Please Share!

Christmas Quotes and Random Musings ~ Quote of the Week, December 21, 2015

Christmas Quotes and Random Musings

“Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time.”

Laura Ingalls Wilder
__________

Favorite Christmas Movie Quote

It's Christmas Eve, it's the one night of the year where we all act a little nicer, we smile a little easier, we cheer a little more...for a couple of hours out of the whole year we are the people that we always hoped we would be. It's a miracle, it's really sort of a miracle, because it happens every Christmas Eve...

"You have to do something, you have to take a chance, you do have to get involved. There are people that are having trouble making their miracle happen. There are people who don't have enough to eat, there are people that are cold...you can go out and say "hello" to these people. You can take an old blanket out of the closet and say "here" you can make them a sandwich and say "oh by the way here!" I get it now! If you give, then it can happen...then the miracle can happen to you. It's not just the poor and hungry, it's everybody who's got to have this miracle!! And it can happen tonight for all of you! If you believe in this spirit thing, the miracle will happen and then you'll want it to happen again tomorrow. You won't be one of those (Scrooges) who says Christmas is once a year and it's a fraud...it's not! It can happen every day..you've just got to want that feeling. And if you like it and you want it you'll get greedy for it...you'll want it every day of your life, and it can happen to you. I believe in it now! I believe it's gonna happen to me now, and I'm ready for it. It's great! It's a good feeling..it's better than I've felt in a long time! I'm ready....have a Merry Christmas, everyone."

From the movie "Scrooged" (1988) starring Bill Murray

Christmas is Coming; From the Quote of the Week Files; December 14, 2015

Inline image 1

"If you were going to make this the best holiday season ever, how would you do it?  It won't happen for most people, because most people won't have that as their #1 intention.  And it's unlikely that you'll have the life-changing holidays that you could have if you don't create a powerful intent."
Debbie Ford
___________
“Instead of being a time of unusual behavior, Christmas is perhaps the only time in the year when people can obey their natural impulses and express their true sentiments without feeling self-conscious and, perhaps, foolish. Christmas, in short, is about the only chance a man has to be himself.”

How to live the Good Life; From the Quote of the Week Files; December 7, 2015

Inline image 1
"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."

Marcus Aurelius
__________

“There is nothing else than now. There is neither yesterday, certainly, nor is there any tomorrow. How old must you be before you know that? There is only now, and if now is only two days, then two days is your life and everything in it will be in proportion. This is how you live a life in two days. And if you stop complaining and asking for what you never will get, you will have a good lifeA good life is not measured by any biblical span.”

Possibilities... From the Quote of the Week Files, November 30, 2015

"The moment when you first wake up in the morning is the most wonderful of the twenty-four hours. No matter how weary or dreary you may feel, you possess the certainty that, during the day that lies before you, absolutely anything may happen. And the fact that it practically always doesn't, matters not a jot. Thepossibility is always there."

Monica Baldwin

A Recycled Quote of the Week Classic...

Thankful; Grateful; From the Quote of the Week Files; November 23, 2015

"If you just look at all that already exists in your life, all that you already have: unlimited air to breathe, ample lighting to see, music to hear, books to read, stars to dream by, trees to gaze at, floors to dance on, friends to cavort with, enemies to befriend, strangers to meet, woods to walk through, beaches to comb, rocks to scale, rains to cleanse you, rivers to float you, animals to comfort you, you do have to admit, there's more of it than you could ever, ever, ever spend.

But try anyway."

The Soul Knows... From the Quote of the Week Files, November 16, 2015

The Soul Knows...

__________

“Your soul knows the geography of your destiny. Your soul alone has the map of your future, therefore you can trust this indirect, oblique side of yourself. If you do, it will take you where you need to go, but more important it will teach you a kindness of rhythm in your journey.”

John O’Donohue
