Just keep going. This isn’t some competition to see who can have it all together at all times. This is life. Life is not a competition, it’s a series of hurdles. The hurdles get bigger as you get stronger. What you faced last year probably seems small and ridiculous compared to the hurdles you are facing today. But that’s just how it works: the more character you build, the greater the battlefield on the horizon.
Build character anyway.
Show up anyway.
Love anyway.
Dig anyway.
Plant anyway.
Choose anyway.
Define anyway.
Be there anyway.
Keep going anyway.
There won’t be a trophy at the end of this thing. No medal to prove you won the race. There will just be a lot of grey hair. And people who will say some words about you. And a life that flashed before your face so quickly. You’ll be the only one who can swallow hard and answer these questions honestly: Did I love them right? Did I try my hardest? Did I give all that I had? Did I face myself, even when I was the hardest one in my own orbit to face? Did I take the steps to get better? Did I sacrifice? Did I push, even when I didn’t want to? Did I keep going? Even in the midst of hurdles, and blows to the face, and junk, and barriers, and fears, and doubts that huddled close to my ear? Did I keep going anyway?
