It has come to my attention that Carnegie Mellon professor Randy Pausch, 47, has lost his battle with pancreatic cancer this past Friday. With months to live, Pausch gave his famous "Last Lecture" speech at Carnegie Mellon University in September 2007 and it was featured as a Quote of the Week on September 24th (see below for a link to his last lecture).
He cast a long shadow, and his good works will not long be forgotten. May he rest in peace.

The Story behind the quote...
Many colleges and universities are sponsoring "Last Lectures," inviting speakers to deliver what they would if they knew it was their last lecture. For the author of the above quote, the "last" part of "last lecture" is very real.
