Congratulations to Quote of the Week Member, Jim Kerr,
who was inducted into National Radio Hall of Fame.

As the youngest person ever to host a NYC radio show, Jim began his NY radio career in 1974 on WPLJ in 1974 and has been a fixture on the NY radio dial ever since. He has interviewed the biggest names in rock music including John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger among countless others. He is now the longest running morning radio personality in NYC history. Along with his Radio Hosting Duties, Jim has also has also raised millions of dollars for community causes and charities and continues to do so. http://www.radiohalloffame.com/2018-inductees-overview

On a personal note, Jim is also responsible for the creation of this On-Line Quote of the Week Community. I met Jim in 1985 and he was kind enough to feature Mr. Nolan’s Quote of the Week which aired every Monday Morning for many yearsThis eventually led to the creation of this weekly Quote of the Week which is it's 19th year.  So this Rock and Roll quote by Journey is dedicated to Jim with my utmost respect and gratitude!

In honor of my mother's birthday today (she would have been 98) we have some old Estonian Folk Wisdom. She was born and raised in Tartu, Estonia and during WW II she escaped the Red Army’s Soviet reoccupation of Estonia. Facing an uncertain future, she left her home with just two suitcases and survived bomb attacks, starvation and other life threatening challenges. She eventually found her way to a small town in Germany where she found work in a hospital and then became an Interpreter for the US Army when they occupied the area.  As luck would have it, she also met and married a young Lieutenant from Brooklyn, NY. and went on to raise a family in Queens before moving to New Jersey. Her story is one of survival, ingenuity and resilience.
