Welcome to the Quote of the Week, your Fast Relief from Dogma Slavery! Going beyond the surface, going deep, meditation are the themes of this weeks' quotes. Enjoy!
__________
“There's nothing wrong with enjoying looking at the surface of the ocean itself, except that when you finally see what goes on underwater, you realize that you've been missing the whole point of the ocean. Staying on the surface all the time is like going to the circus and staring at the outside of the tent.”
Dave Barry
__________
A Recycled Quote of the Week Classic (January 8, 2008)...
"Ideas are like fish.
If you want to catch little fish, you can stay in the shallow water. But if you want to catch the big fish, you've got to go deeper.
Down deep, the fish are more powerful and more pure. They're huge and abstract. And they're very beautiful.
I look for a certain kind of fish that is important to me, one that can translate to cinema. But there are all kinds of fish swimming down there. There are fish for business, fish for sports. There are fish for everything.
Everything, anything that is a thing, comes up from the deepest level. Modern physics calls that level the Unified Field. The more your consciousness-your awareness-is expanded, the deeper you go toward this source, and the bigger the fish you can catch."
David Lynch; Movie Producer; Director and Author

thoughts and proverbs of philosophers, Kings, politicians, wise, famous and not so famous people. This week's quote is about small gestures.
__________
"
I firmly believe in small gestures: pay for their coffee, hold the door for strangers, over tip, smile or try to be kind even when you don’t feel like it, pay compliments, chase the kid’s runaway ball down the sidewalk and throw it back to him, try to be larger than you are— particularly when it’s difficult. People do notice, people appreciate. I appreciate it when it’s done to (for) me. Small gestures can be an effort, or actually go against our grain (“I’m not a big one for paying compliments…”), but the irony is that almost every time you make them, you feel better about yourself. For a moment life suddenly feels lighter, a bit more Gene Kelly dancing in the rain.”

"The trick is in what one emphasizes. We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves happy. The amount of work is the same."
Don Juan (Carlos Castaneda)

For the Good of All and with Harm to None, welcome to the Quote of the Week! This week, a short poem with a big meaning!

Weather Report
“Any day I’m vertical is a good day”
…that’s what I always say.
And I give thanks for my health.
If you ask me, “How are you?”
I’ll answer, “GREAT!”
because in saying so, I make it so.
And I give thanks that I can choose my attitude.
When life give me dark clouds and rain,
I appreciate the moisture that brings
a soft curl to my hair.
When life gives me sunshine,
I gratefully turn my face up
to feel its warmth on my cheeks.
When life brings fog,
I hug my sweater around me
and give thanks for the cool
shroud of mystery that makes
the familiar seem different and intriguing.
When life brings the snow,
I dash outside to catch
the first flakes on my
tongue, relishing the
icy miracle that is a snowflake.
Life’s events and experiences
are like the weather -
The come and go,
no matter what my preference.
So, what the heck?!
I might as well decide to enjoy them.
For indeed, there IS a time for every
purpose under heaven.
Each season brings its
own unique blessings…
…AND I GIVE THANKS!

"The way into this new world can be so simple - and so sweet. When you're willing to listen to your own voice and trust yourself enough to follow your heart, you encounter your true power - a power marked by courage and vulnerability. Any moment you offer a whole-hearted 'Yes!' to your own truth, you are infused with the power, self-worth, self-respect, self-esteem and confidence that will give wings to the best year of your life."
